How to vet a link before you ever ask for it

1 min read · by admin

The fastest way to keep a backlink profile clean is to never chase a bad link in the first place. A few checks separate a link worth having from one that quietly drags you down.

Real traffic first

If a site has no organic traffic of its own, its link is unlikely to do much for you — and may signal a network.

Topical relevance

A link from a site in or near your niche carries far more weight than a generic mention buried in an unrelated post.

Outbound hygiene

Scan who else they link to. Pages stuffed with unrelated commercial links are a red flag worth walking away from.
